this is the port of santarem. its a great place to hop onto a boat and head east into the amazon, west to belem and maranhao, or south to tocantins and central brasil. 

 

 

fish and flamengo shirt - its pretty amazing how in the north, so far from rio, flamengo are so popular. (the shirt with the no. 9 and petrobras in the photo is a flamengo shirt). in case you dont know, flamengo is one of brazils biggest football team, from rio de janeiro.
